Class
Descriptions
Tiny
Tots: This
combined class focuses on children ages 15 months to 3 years of
age learning basic coordination and motor skill levels while
receiving a little help from Mom or Dad!
Kindergym:
This is a class designed for children from 3 to 4 years of
age. Utilizing our "Tumblin’ Fun" Program, your child’s current level of
ability will be evaluated. Placement in one of the 5 levels of
this program will be determined with future advancement occurring
after a number of completed and fully executed skills. Level 1 of
Kindergym must be completed in order to move to Progressive.
Progressive: This class includes
children ages 5 to 7 years of age and teaches basic skills and
techniques with possible advancement through the “Tumblin’
Fun” levels. Each month, evaluations will be conducted and your
child will be rewarded with “stars” for completed skills.
There are six levels of advancement.
Advanced
Progressive: Also for children ages 5 to 7 years of age with the focus being on
progression of previously learned skills. Level 2 of “Tumblin’ Fun” must be completed and this class is by
coaches' invitation only. This is a transition towards the
Pre-Team level of gymnastics.
Intermediate: This class is designed for children 8 to 12 years of age.
The athlete will develop skills on trampoline, uneven bars,
balance beam, vault and the floor exercise.
The gymnasts concentrate on preparational skills and
techniques. Your
child may advance to Advanced Intermediate or be asked to join
Pre-team if competition is desired.

Advanced
Intermediate: This is a class for children ages 8 to 12 and by coaches’
invitation only. Students may attend one, two, or three classes a
week, one and a half hour each class. This is in preparation for
the Pre-Team level of gymnastics.
Jr.
TumbleCheer: This program is a
combination of gymnastics, tumbling skills, jumps and stunts to
enhance cheerleading performance. Ages
5 - 10.
Sr.
TumbleCheer: This program is a
combination of gymnastics, tumbling skills, jumps and stunts to
enhance cheerleading performance.
Ages 11 & up
Advanced-Senior: A program for students
with advanced skills. Development
usually initiated while training at the Progressive and/or
Intermediate levels. Training
includes conditioning and strength building to further develop
gymnastics skills. Classes
held for two, four or six hours weekly and student may opt to
prepare for competitive team.
Pre-Team:
These selected athletes train for six hours weekly to
further develop gymnastics skills, strength and flexibility. The
extra time helps to prepare the student for competition in the
future.
Competitive
Team: These athletes train for 10-15 hours weekly to further develop
gymnastics skills, strength and flexibility. These athletes are
selected to begin preparing for competitions with other gymnasts
representing New River
Valley Gymnastics at selected meets.
Competitive
Levels 4 - 10 and Elite. |
